Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia met with elders, community leaders, commanders of local armed vigilantes knowns as “Ma’awisley”, federal government military forces and politicians from the region during his visit to Cadale District.
They discussed best ways of speeding up the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab fighters, they agreed to eradicate the remnant of the fighters in the remaining parts in the HirShabelle state administration territories and the country as whole. The President and local leaders emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation to secure lasting peace and stability in the region.
The move came when al-Shabab fighters who came from central Somali regions of Mudug and Galgadud region of Galmudug state administration poured into the Middle Shabelle Region in HirShabelle state administration where they increased their attack at bases of the coalition forces recently.
