The leader of Somalia’s Northeastern regional state, Abdikadir Ahmed Ali (Firdhiye), has appointed a 21-member Cabinet, according to a decree issued by his office on Sunday.
The newly formed Cabinet includes one woman, with several appointees being former members of parliament and ex-ministers from the Puntland administration.
President Firdhiye also retained several ministers from the former SSC-Khatumo administration, stating that the appointments aim to establish a unified government that reflects the aspirations and needs of the community.
The deputy ministers and state ministers have not yet been named, with the president’s office indicating they will be announced in the coming days.
Sources close to the administration confirmed that President Firdhiye and his deputy, Abwaan Abdirashid, initially disagreed over the distribution of Cabinet portfolios, though the issue was later resolved amicably.
The newly appointed ministers, most of whom are currently in Las Anod, are expected to be sworn in on Monday.
