Reliable reports confirmed that serious health crises are affecting Aadan Yabaal, significantly impacting mothers, children, and the elder people.
The outbreak of diseases in Aadan Yabaal, located in Middle Shabelle under the HirShabelle regional state, is said to be primarily due to measles and acute waterborne diarrhea.
Although no official count is yet available, sources describe the situation in the town as the worst health emergency to date. Owing to the absence of any functioning hospital, most of the afflicted are being transferred to nearby towns—such as Jowhar, the capital of HirShabelle—for treatment.
This crisis follows the seizure of Aadan Yabaal by al-Shabab fighters on 16 April 2025 after a series of bombings, when government forces withdrew and the group took direct control. But the fighting between al-Shabab fighters and federal government of Somalia started on 20 February 2025
